Vintage Nantucket Lightship Basket Purse by José Formoso Reyes (1902-1980) circa 1955. Nice early example with great patina and rare elongated base. Classic carved Sperm whale ornament. 7-1/2" oval size (measured inside and based on the mold size he used) is a perfect size and just a bit taller than a "cocktail" sized basket. You can fit all your essentials including an iPhone 7 Plus! Great condition and measures 9-1/2" by 6-1/4" by 7" overall dimensions.
