Vintage Nantucket "Cocktail" Basket Purse by Jose Formoso Reyes 1955

Vintage Nantucket Lightship Basket Purse by José Formoso Reyes (1902-1980). This unusually small "Cocktail" basket is the smallest we have had in decades. It is about 1/2" smaller all around than the more common "Cocktail" size we usually find. Whale carving signed and dated 1955 Sayle underneath lid. Ebony plaque, knobs, and Peg. Excellent overall condition. Measures 6-3/4" wide (excluding handle and pegs) by 5-1/2" deep by 4-3/4" high.
