Rare Antique American Scrimshaw Sewing Caddy

Rare antique American scrimshaw SEWING THREAD SPOOL stand made circa 1860. Made of whalebone and whale ivory it is inlaid with numerous scribe lines of green and red sealing wax. Three tiers support thread spools and are held in place with removable whalebone pins. The whale ivory cup on the top may have been designed to hold a pin cushion. Very good condition with a couple of replaced pins. Size: 8.5 inches tall.
