Very rare early Nantucket Lightship basket dated 1860

Very rare Nantucket Lightship Basket dated 1860 and woven with baleen strips. I know of only a few others with this rare use of baleen material. Good condition with missing one handle and some breaks and unraveling of the baleen. This is a rare and interesting basket that links the end of whaling to the beginning of Lightship basket making. Size: 8 inches diameter.
