Rare and choice antique scrimshaw USS CONSTITUTION

A rare and choice antique American scrimshaw sperm whale's tooth dedicated to the USS FRIGATE CONSTITUTION, circa 1840. Deeply engraved with the famous naval battle between the USS CONSTITUTION,44 and the British Frigate GUERRIERE,38, August 19,1812. The reverse is engraved with a exceptional patriotic emblem of a bold American Eagle, banners, shield, trumpet, American flags, etc., surmounting a medallion depicting the USS Constitution. Above all is an allegorical bare-breasted figure of Liberty. Below the battle scene is engraved "CONSTITUTION". The tooth has a glorious deep natural patina and is in excellent condition.
