Antique Scrimshaw Tooth with Woman & Sperm Whale

Antique scrimshaw Sperm whale tooth featuring a stylized Sperm whale and a woman under crossed flags on reverse. Great use of red polychrome along with black ink. Upside down flags are a symbol of distress and I believe this tooth is a memorial to a whaler lost at sea. American circa 1850. Great condition, measures 6" long.
