Rare Unfinished Antique Nantucket Basket

Rare unfinished Nantucket Lightship Basket, last quarter 19th Century. Open round cane  woven basket with rattan staves, unfinished high rectangular wooden ears extending down as staves, unwrapped rim, maple bottom in dark stain with multiple concentric scribed circles, unsigned. Found in a Nantucket attic this was to be a swing handle basket. A very interesting study piece for the advanced collector. Measures 3" high by 6-½" diameter.
