Rare Covered Nantucket Basket by Charles Ray

Rare antique covered round swing handled Nantucket basket attributed to Charles B Ray circa 1880. Cane woven basket with rattan staves, having a flat round lid with central  turned plate with multiple concentric scribed circles, carved swing handle with rectangular ends mounted with brass rivets directly into rim, poplar bottom with multiple concentric scribed circles, unsigned. Accompanied by note written by Paul Madden "I once found a basket exactly same with inscription 'E.B. Cottle, last basket made by Chas.B.Ray Dec 15 ,1883". Good condition with newer brass lid screw. Measures 6-¼" high by 8-¾" diameter.
