Antique Whale Sign Marker - D Baker, New Bedford

Rare cast metal Sperm whale sign marker signed "D. Baker New Bedford" circa 1900. These were also used as sign adornments at New Bedford merchants indicating they sold whaling related gear. 

Daniel Baker was a whaling captain and later worked with his machinist son Ansol Baker to make these whales from cast iron and cast metal.

Original surface with wear to paint. Measures 22" long by 5-1/4" high.
